Theorii Contemporary Art Space

The First Postulate is the inaugural exhibition at Theorii Contemporary Art Space. The solo exhibition of founder, artist, and curator Liisa Nelson was designed to frame the ideas behind the name of the space.

References to the grid, geometric form and elements of repetition nod to the conceptual ground of science and mathematics upon which we as a society build our systems of logic. The rigidity of these systems is subverted by the artist's physical manipulation of material and subtle references to the body and relationships. The organic forms reflect the viewer's own physicality, confronting us with at once a recognition of the self and an abstract other.
